
There is nothing better than your 8 y/o daughter screaming her little head off because of a bug. This was not any ordinary bug, this thing was ugly, it was so weird looking, what was it.

So as apart of the kids learning outside the traditional classroom, I had them look it up. Thank God for google, because we would have been at a loss if we didn't have it. Now we have seen this bug before but we thought it was weird, well we didn't know then either. But now we are going to find out.

We found this one on Thursday, Oct 22nd outside our RV door:


So have you figured out what this big is? We did...here is what we found:
It is an insect
It mainly lives in Mexico, southwestern states, and along the Pacific coast
It has the head and body of an ant but the bottom looks like a bee
It is not poisonous, but it does bite
Mainly active at night
Live under rock beds and in wood piles
They can move indoors during extreme hot and dry weather
Primary living is in garden and flower beds

Its called a Jerusalem Cricket, aka 'the old bald man', more commonly called the Potato Bug
